Grace

Grace is a powerful gift from God. A gift of love and forgiveness. Grace is greater than our mistakes, bigger than our hurt, and greater than our circumstances. And as we are given grace, we are to give it others as well. This week’s message was shared by Ken Hubbard.

Easter 2017

This Easter Sunday, we look at the Christ hymn from that Paul wrote in his letter to the Philippians (Philippians 2:5-11). In these words, we are called to transform our mind and heart to the image of Jesus.

REAL Concern

This week completes the REAL series; a series exploring what it means to live an authentic Christian life. James concludes his letter to the early church with a charge – look out for and go after those that wander from their faith (James 5:19-20). James highlights what matters most to Jesus – people. People matter […]

Advent: The Silence is Broken Part 1

During the third week of Advent, we look at a story of preparation and anticipation of the coming of the Messiah. It’s the story of an older couple who had served God all their lives. This couple had never been able to have children until the day an angel appeared with good news. The story of […]

Miracles, Ministry and Misdirection

Ever find yourself saying “No good deed goes unpunished”? No matter how good your intentions seemed at the time, whatever you thought was going to be good blows up in your face. Ministry is often messy, and almost never simple. We are not perfect, and will make mistakes and face obstacles. Ministry is going to […]

Cheap Grace

Let’s explore two types of grace. First is cheap grace – grace that we consume without any effort, without any cost to us. But at the end of the sermon on the mount, Jesus calls us to another type of grace – to a costly grace. After laying out how we are to live, how we […]

Jesus Loves _____, This I Know

“Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.” This classic song is one that so many can sing by heart – Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes Jesus loves me. And here lies the song’s true message. We all can sing it – Jesus loves each and every one of us. If we can accept […]

the Jesus Prayer

We need prayer in our journey to follow Jesus. And Jesus already knew that we would struggle with prayer, so he taught us how to pray. During the sermon on the mount, Jesus clearly lays out how we should pray starting with these words: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be thy name.” (Matthew 6:1-15). In providing us […]

Antithesis of Discipleship

As Jesus speaks to his followers on the mount, he contrasts interpretations of old testament writing with His word (Matthew 5:17-48). He speaks with authority over these things, and cuts straight to the heart. Jesus makes clear that it is not just ones actions but the heart and mind behind those actions. It is the heart that prompts all kinds […]

First Words

How important are the first words someone speaks to us? They can put up walls or launch lifelong relationships. In Matthew 5:1-10 Jesus begins speaking to the masses, outlining what it means to be a disciple in eight succinct sentences. The beatitudes provide the foundation for a life of following Jesus. As you hear these words, […]
