Ever wonder why church? Maybe you think about why you go every Sunday or maybe you think about why would anyone go to a church. Often we look to the church and expect to find the perfection of Christ. The trouble with this is the church is full of broken people which can push many away. But it turns out, being full of broken people is the point. This is a place full of people who need Christ. Jesus wanted to build an ekklesia (Matt 16:18) which is regularly mistranslated as church. What Jesus told Simon Peter was to build a community on the rock that Jesus is the son of God. When we focus on the community of Christ we can build what Jesus wanted of his disciples. And this community will stand out from any other on basic feature – Love (John 13:34).
